Guist, B1110 Holt Road – Road Closure – Surface Dressing Works

Ref: HN/12/82/PMB724/SC

16 April 2024

Starting on 30 April 2024, Norfolk County Council will be carrying out surface dressing work on the B1110 Holt Road in Guist. To allow the work to be carried out safely and swiftly it will be necessary to close the road to through traffic on a number of dates when the surfacing is underway, line painting is being carried out, and cat’s eyes (road studs) are being renewed. Access to properties will be maintained at all times.

The work will take place between A1067 Norwich Road and U35101 Furze Lane. The work is weather dependent, and will be carried out in phases with any road closures only in place for a number of hours at a time on the following dates:

30 April 2024: Road stud removal works 19:00 – 06:00

20 May 2024: Surface dressing work 09:00 – 16:00

29 May 2024: Road marking and stud replacement works 19:00 – 06:00

A fully signed diversion route will be in operation for the duration of the works.

The County Council thanks people for their patience while this essential road maintenance work is carried out.

The work, which will cost £19,700, will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors Tarmac and Keir Highway Services.

For further information:

This year 280 miles of Norfolk’s roads will get a new seal to extend the life of the road at a cost of £11,765,000. The new seal consists of a thin layer of bitumen and chippings which is laid onto the road. This helps prevent water penetration and helps stop potholes opening up.

The action of vehicles passing over the new surface plays an important part in helping the new surface to settle in. People are urged to drive slowly and considerately across the new surface until it is bedded in, and highway teams return a few days later to sweep up the loose stones.
